Tip du Jour: Moisturizer
Happy New Year! I have been missing in action but I'm back now and ready to kick off the new year with a great tip and product! What best way to embrace the new year than with a great moisturizer? Fresh start, Fresh face! I have tried to venture out into the world of facial moisturizers to find what works best on not only myself but my clients and I have found that nothing can compare to Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre. Before local beauty supply stores began carrying this product, I would order it from Paris, France. The French sure nailed it with this "24 Hour Miracle Cream." This moisturizer is great on all skin types and my favorite thing about Embryollise is that your skin really soaks up the moisturizer and locks it in. There isn't any oily resistance and the creaminess and consistency of the product is just perfect! Ask your local beauty professional stores like Nigel's or Naimes for samples of this product. Give your face a chance at a fresh new beginning and I guarantee you will l-o-v-e this!

Tip du Jour: Red Lips
With New Years right around the corner, I found it fitting to discuss the technique in applying red lipstick, and keeping it on! I'm sure you all have heard that after applying lipstick, the best secret to maintaining and preserving the color is to simply blot after application, and re-apply. Here are some of my easy tips on how to preserve the color of your lipstick:
1. Line the lips with a red lip pencil.
2. Color, or "fill" your lips with the lip pencil. Practicing this technique does not allow for the lipstick to bleed! Start from the outer corners of your lips and work inwards.
3. Apply lipstick and blot.
4. Re-apply lipstick, but this time, dab a little bit of loose power with a brush and continuously dust over your lips. This process "locks in" the lipstick and is the same technique used to "lock in" your foundation. Loose Powder is a makeup artist's best friend! I like to use MAKEUP FOREVER HD or Laura Mercier.
5. Last but not least, re-apply your lipstick. You may want to blot again for a more matte look, or, if you appreciate the natural gloss of the lipstick, you may go without blotting.
Ladies, can we all agree that Russian Red by MAC is the most perfect red hue that matches every single skin tone? I'm obsessed and what makes it that much more special is that you can rock this red all-year-long! Love!

Tip du Jour: Mascara & Pore Minimizer/Perfector
I decided to do a dual blog post today as I was caught up with the madness of preparing for Christmas yesterday and didn't post a Tip du Jour! Before I continue, I wanted to thank all of you for your support on the blog. I am so grateful! I have been receiving AH-MA-ZING feedback and I am so overwhelmed with your kind words.
Mascara
I have been using the MAC Haute and Naughty mascara for the past year and infatuation would be an absolute understatement. This mascara is the full package! Made with two wands that interlock with each other, the "Naughty" wand, when applied, has the most perfect application for a dark and dramatic look. On the other hand, the "Haute" wand, when applied, is great for a more simple, every day look. Whether you choose the Haute wand or the Naughty wand, it's remarkably made wiper wisps through your lashes without clumping. You will notice an immediate difference once you use this product. This mascara was developed so brilliantly that no matter whether your eyelashes are long, short, thick, or full, it DELIVERS. Fabulous must-have!
Pore Minimizer
We are all victim to having pores, whether we like it or not. My solution to minimizing the appearance of pores on clients and of course myself is Clinique's Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector. With a silicone base, this little tube of heaven-send, as I like to call it, seals your pores and reduces the look of them. As the product is applied, the texture feels like porcelain. After prepping the face with moisturizer and primer, I then apply the pore minimizer to the areas of the face where pores are visible before applying foundation. Even though the product is packaged small, a little goes a long way. This product does an absolutely fantastic job at really giving you the feel of having a second layer of skin because it's so lightweight and non-greasy. The texture is fabulous and most importantly, your skin looks pore-less and feels like silk. This product is sold exclusively online at www.Clinique.com.

Tip du Jour: The Color Purple
Purple eyeshadow is produced with two main pigments: blue and red. The color red or deep red, respectively, is called Carmine. Carmine is a dye used in cosmetics, among other things, to create a dark pigment in different shades of purple eye shadows as well as different shades of lipsticks with a purple hue. Most of you may not be familiar with this but, applying a purple eyeshadow in some cases, may cause an allergic reaction to the area of the eye. Itchiness and inflammation are some of the symptoms you may experience if you are indeed allergic to Carmine. The allergic reaction may or may not be severe, but to eliminate any complications, you may want to either discontinue using the product, or, make sure to have a good base on your eye with an eye primer before applying eyeshadow. In addition, lining the bottom of your eye, or drop shadow, with a purple eye shadow may increase your risk of encountering an allergic reaction. If you look closely, MAC packages their purple eyeshadows with a slip which clearly states the warnings that apply to the use of the product. Most individuals do look at these notes as just another "ingredient label," as many of us continue to do so or have done so in the past. Whether we choose to ignore or read these labels, the descriptions may definitely be beneficial to our health and overall beauty!

Tip du Jour: Strobe Cream
Strobe cream is essentially used as a highlighter for the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and on the cupids bow. My all time favorite strobe cream is by MAC and its highlighting and illuminating control not only has an effect of accentuating certain features of the face, but when used correctly and with just the right amount, can add the effect of dewiness to the entire face. Compacted with green tea, antioxidants and iridescent elements, this strobe cream is the perfect way to looking refreshed. I like to mix one drop of the MAC strobe cream into my foundation before applying. The mixture allows for a fresh look and ultimately, a very healthy glow! This look is ideal for those individuals who have dry skin, or would like to take their matte-finish foundation to the next level!
