Tip du Jour: Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman

I really love to use products and brushes on clients that feel great on their face. Everyone knows that having to sit through a full-face makeup application may take some time, so for the client, comfort is key. I am thrilled to share with you all my new makeup brush obsession of the moment, Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman. Samantha Chapman is a Youtube makeup guru, part of the Pixiwoo duo and she has used her expertise to develop brushes that are high quality and professional without the high price tag! At an absolutely affordable price (under $10 dollars each!), the brushes are made out of Taklon bristles, which is a synthetic fiber made from polyester. My favorite part: the brushes are cruelty-free! These brushes are soft, comfortable, and most importantly, they grab onto product brilliantly. You can find the Real Techniques collection exclusively at ULTA. Xo! Photobucket

Tip du Jour: Giorgio Armani "Face Fabric"

Ladies, for those of you who have been inquiring about a foundation that is lightweight and build-able, sans the thickness and creaminess, the Beauty Gods have answered yours (and my) prayers! Let me introduce to you the most exquisite lightweight foundation on the market, Giorgio Armani Face Fabric Second Skin Nude Makeup. I mean, is there anything this brand produces that isn't short from mere perfection? The name of this product holds absolutely true because the feel of the foundation in itself is silky, smoothe, and fabric-like. Visualize a silk fabric brushing against your skin. LOVE! The application of this heaven- sent is easy and really gives you a lot of working room to apply in areas that might need more coverage. Might I add that blending is a breeze!

In most cases, I love to apply primer before foundation for that "porcelain" feel and look, but with this product, you don't need the extra product on your face. You can get away with just foundation because it's texture already has the porcelain-like effect! A lot of people do compare this foundation to a tinted moisturizer because of how lightweight it is, perfect for every day use. Although this product is absolutely phenomenal, I do have to say that if you naturally have really dry skin (without weather conditions taken into consideration), this product might not be right for your skin type. For those ladies with the really dry skin, if you are dying to try this product, my recommendation would be to really moisturize your skin well with a hydrating moisturizer before applying this product!

Ladies, if you want to purchase any Giorgio Armani Products make sure you go see Stella at the Nordstrom Glendale Armani Counter. Tell her Arpine sent you and she will take good care of you gals! xoxo!

Tip du Jour: Golden Globes

After watching the Golden Globes last night and really focusing in on the makeup of these fantastic actresses and of course their overall look, I was blown away at the simplicity of their makeup. Yet, the simplicity didn't take away from the statement!  It was loud and clear that less is more! We see time and time again that a light eye beautifully dressed in eyeliner and a light, nude lip is not only the safest way to do any look, but it is timeless, chic, and ALWAYS statement-worthy. A smokey eye can be done perfectly with lighter shades of eyeshadows. The versatility of being able to wear a smokey eye without the boldness and darkness was evident with last night's women of Hollywood. Here is a recap of some of my favorite looks:

Tip du Jour: "Titanium-Dioxide Free" Face

Often I am approached with the question of how to reduce the appearance of a "ghost-like" face in photos! The term refers to a lighter and brighter face compared with the decolletage. The answer to this question is simple: SPF! Gasp! Of course SPF is vital and should be part of our daily upkeep of our face but, using products with SPF is not ideal for photos. Titanium-Dioxide is a key ingredient in SPF and it is this particular ingredient that causes the face to look lighter than the body in photos. My recommendation is to use a foundation and a moisturizer without SPF for those special occasions where photos will be taken. Even in some cases where Bronzer is used to darken the face in hopes of eliminating the effect of SPF, light will in fact still pick up on the pigment of the Titanium-Dioxide thus resulting in a "ghost-like" appearance! The next time you have an event and will be posing for photos, don't forget to temporarily eliminate the SPF from your beautification process. Stay fabulous!

Tip du Jour: Color-blocking with makeup!

Color-blocking has made a very big comeback as a trend that really allows for you to step outside of the box and be daring. When we think of color-blocking, we visualize bright colors like lime, yellow, bright pink, and violet that compliment each other. This same concept goes for make up, specifically bright eyeshadow! As color-blocking is hitting the scene, so is bright hues of eyeshadow. The challenge is to be bold, daring, and most importantly, be yourself.  Experimenting with make up is a beautiful thing. In the world of make up, there are NO RULES! Color-blocking with makeup and pairing a beautiful bright eyeshadow with a bold lip is absolutely fashion forward!
